Exciting Progress:Two Homes Installed! On January 31, 2025, our Site Committee took a major step forward by ordering two new homes at once. Those two homes are installed & porches are going on. We’re aiming to sell four homes this year, including a larger one for a bigger family. We need your help to reach that goal. Special thanks to Takesa residents and members of Colbert Presbyterian Church who showed up with shovels and rakes last month to get these sites beautified. Upcoming SalesTwo homes will be ready for sale this month, two wonderful families are preparing to own a home for the first time! Interested in homeownership at Village Cohousing Works? Eligibility Info A Partnership for HomeownershipMeet Greg Hansen, Chief Credit Officer at Numerica Credit Union Last year, we partnered with Numerica to launch a specialized manufactured home loan program—helping ten families at Takesa Village become homeowners. Greg and his team have worked closely with prospective homeowners to create budgets, review credit reports, and prepare for home loans. Their dedication has been a game-changer in making homeownership accessible. We’re incredibly grateful for Numerica’s commitment to breaking down barriers. We look forward to continuing this work in 2025 and beyond! HB1760: A Legislative Win for Affordable HousingThanks to your support, HB1760 unanimously passed both the House and Senate and on 4/11 Governor Ferguson signed it into law! This law reduces licensing restrictions for nonprofits selling manufactured homes to low-income households. Thank you for speaking up and making affordable homeownership possible! Help Install A Shed!Storage is tight in our 780 sq ft homes. Thanks to a generous donor, C.L., our next homeowner will have a shed—but we need three more this year! Each shed costs around $600. Shed Coordinator Needed We need a volunteer to coordinate shed installations. No lifting required—just help schedule and place them. If you’d like to sponsor a shed or help install one, contact: director@villagecohousingworksspokane.org Construction Update
Help Us Build Homes For Larger Families! At 780 sq ft, our homes work well for some, but larger families need more space. We’re raising $20,000 by the end of May to build bigger homes for those who need them. Smith Barbieri Progressive Fund has generously contributed $10,000 in seed money to get the ball rolling. Like all our home funds, this money will be reused for future builds—your donation will keep working for years to come! Give with a check here.
